In a network of lines that enlace

I’m conflicted about this one. The writing is superb, the pacing well done and the story itself a good length. Barnes doesn’t attempt to make the story more than it is, and knows when to stop.

However the main issue I have with this book is there is no relief in the plot. It’s sad for the sake of being so, filled with generally unhappy people and unhappy circumstances. It’s a little pretentious and the characters aren’t well rounded enough for me to care for any of them. This is symptom of the methodology and the atmosphere of the plot, but this just disconnected me from the novel.

All in all its left me feeling rather hollow and a little let down. Not one I’d highly recommend.
